Audience: Creators Status: User Guide
Comments let your audience react to your episodes and talk with you and each other. This guide covers where comments show up, how the moderation queue works, how to approve or reject what viewers post, the per-episode comment view, how auto-moderation decides what to hold, and how to delete a comment.
Where comments appear
Comments live on the episode page, in the comments section below the video. Viewers with an account can post a comment, reply to others, and vote a comment up or down. For a viewer’s-eye view of posting, replying, and voting, see comments-public.
A comment can be posted in one of two states:
- Approved. It appears in the thread right away.
- Pending moderation. It is held and shows a [pending moderation] placeholder to others until you review it. The person who posted it is told their comment is awaiting review.
Which state a comment lands in is decided by auto-moderation, described below.
The moderation queue
Pending comments from across your organization collect in one place. Open Community → Moderation to review them. The queue gathers held comments from every show in your organization so you can work through them in one pass.
Each item shows the comment text and the episode it was posted on. At the top of the page you also get a small summary of the day’s activity, including how many comments were reviewed today and how many were auto-approved.
Approving and rejecting
For each pending comment you can:
- Approve it, which publishes it into the episode thread.
- Reject it, which keeps it out of the thread. A rejected comment shows a [removed by moderator] placeholder in its place.
Once you act on a comment, it leaves the queue.
Filtering the queue
When the queue is long, narrow it down:
- Episode filter. Show only comments left on a specific episode.
- Search. Match text in the comment or in the episode title.
Viewing every comment on an episode
The moderation queue only holds comments that are waiting on you. To see the full comment history for a single episode, including approved, pending, and rejected comments together, open that episode from Content and go to its comments view. This is the place to audit a discussion after the fact rather than to clear the pending backlog.
How auto-moderation decides what to hold
Every comment is checked automatically the moment it is submitted. The check is a built-in scorer, not a list you configure. It looks at the text and raises a score based on signals such as:
- Spam keywords, for example common advertising and scam phrases.
- Links, where more than two URLs in one comment counts against it.
- Shouting, meaning a comment that is mostly capital letters.
- Repetition, such as the same characters or the same phrase repeated over and over.
It also watches for bot-like patterns, like a short comment built almost entirely from generic filler (« great post », « check out », « subscribe »).
Based on the combined score, the comment is either:
- Approved automatically and posted right away, or
- Held as pending so it waits in your moderation queue, or
- Blocked outright when the signals are strong, in which case it is never created and the person is shown a short reason.
You do not set thresholds or maintain a word list for this. It runs on every comment so that the obvious noise is caught before it reaches your audience, and anything borderline is routed to you instead of being published blindly.
Who can moderate
Comment moderation is available to you as the creator and to your organization’s Operators. Members can moderate when they have been granted the permission. See team-management-creator for how roles and permissions work.
Deleting a comment
Deletion is for the person who wrote a comment. If you posted a comment, you can remove it from the … menu on that comment and confirming. A deleted comment shows a [deleted] placeholder, and any replies underneath it stay in the thread.
To keep someone else’s comment out of a thread, use Reject from the moderation queue rather than delete. Rejecting is the moderation action; deleting only applies to your own comments.
