You can give a creator’s subscription to someone else as a gift. This guide explains how to gift a tier, what you pay, and what the recipient receives. For your own ongoing membership, see Subscribing to Creators.
How gifting works
A gift is a one-time payment, not a recurring charge to you. You pay once, and the person you choose receives a subscription to the creator’s tier. You will not be billed again for the gift.
Gifting a subscription
- Open the creator’s page and find their subscription tiers.
- Choose the tier you want to gift.
- Enter the username of the person you want to give it to.
- Continue to Stripe Checkout, the secure checkout the platform uses, and confirm your payment.
The payment methods available at checkout are whatever the creator’s Stripe account supports, so the options can vary. You need to be logged in to send a gift.
Getting the username right
You gift by username, so enter the recipient’s exact Third Coast TV username. If the username does not match a real account, checkout will not start and you will see a « recipient not found » message. Double-check the spelling with the person you are gifting to, then try again.
What the recipient gets
Once your payment goes through, the recipient is granted a subscription to that tier that lasts one month. It unlocks the same members-only content a regular subscriber gets for that tier.
The recipient does not need to enter any payment details to receive the gift. Because it is a one-time gift, it does not renew, so their gifted access simply ends after the month unless they choose to start their own subscription.
Troubleshooting
« Recipient not found » at checkout.
- The username did not match an account. Check the exact spelling and try again.
The gift did not go through.
- A gift is only granted once payment settles. If your payment did not complete, the recipient will not receive access. Try the checkout again.
