Subscribing to Creators

How to subscribe to a creator tier, what a subscription unlocks, and how to manage or cancel it.

Audience: Viewers Status: User Guide

Subscribing is a monthly way to support a creator on Third Coast TV and unlock their members-only content. This guide explains how to subscribe, what you get, and how to manage or cancel.

How subscriptions work

A subscription is a recurring monthly membership to a creator. You pay the same amount each month, and the membership renews automatically until you cancel.

Tiers belong to the creator’s organization. One subscription unlocks that creator’s subscriber episodes across their shows, plus any episodes set to your specific tier. Some creators also offer tiers tied to a single show, so the subscribe page will show what each tier covers.

What a subscription unlocks

What you get depends on the creator and the tier you choose. In general a subscription can unlock:

  • Subscriber-only episodes.
  • Episodes limited to a specific tier you hold.
  • Perks the creator attaches to that tier.

Perks vary from creator to creator, so check the tier description before you subscribe to see what is included. Creators usually keep some content free so you can sample their style first.

Subscribing to a tier

  1. Open the creator’s page and find their subscription tiers. Locked episodes also point you to the tier that unlocks them.
  2. Choose the tier you want and select Subscribe.
  3. You are taken to Stripe Checkout, the secure checkout the platform uses for payment.
  4. Enter your payment details and confirm.

The payment methods available at checkout are whatever the creator’s Stripe account supports, so the exact options can vary. After you confirm, your subscription is active and the unlocked content becomes available.

You need to be logged in to subscribe, so the payment is tied to your account.

Managing and canceling

Your subscription renews each month on its own. You can cancel whenever you like to stop it from renewing.

When you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Your membership simply does not renew after that. Canceling stops future charges rather than ending access immediately, so there is no need to wait until the last day to cancel.

Each successful payment generates a receipt from Stripe, which is a good place to keep track of what you are paying and when it renews.

Troubleshooting

Content is still locked after subscribing.

  • Refresh the episode page.
  • Make sure you are logged in with the same account you used to subscribe.

You want to stop being charged.

  • Cancel the subscription. You keep access until the end of the current paid period, and you will not be charged again.
