Audience: Viewers Status: User Guide
Comments let you react to an episode and talk with the creator and other viewers. This guide covers posting a comment, voting, replying, deleting your own comment, and reporting one.
You need a Third Coast TV account to comment, and it is free to create one. Comments appear in the section below the video on the episode page.
Posting a comment
- Scroll to the comments section below the video.
- Type your comment in the box. A comment can be up to 2,000 characters.
- Select Post Comment.
The character counter under the box shows how much room you have left.
Markdown and the preview
Comments support Markdown, so you can add light formatting. The box has two tabs:
- Write, where you type. You can use
**bold**,*italic*,`code`, and>for quotes, among others. - Preview, which renders your formatting so you can see how the comment will look before you post it.
When a comment is held for review
Your comment may not appear right away. The platform checks every comment automatically, and a comment can be held for the creator to review before it goes live. When that happens you are told the comment is awaiting review, and it appears once the creator approves it. Most comments post immediately; this only affects ones the automatic check sets aside.
Voting on comments
Each comment has an up and a down arrow with a running score between them.
- Select the up arrow to upvote.
- Select the down arrow to downvote.
- Select your arrow again to remove your vote.
The score next to the arrows is the upvotes minus the downvotes.
Replying
To respond to a specific comment, select Reply under it, write your reply, and post it. Your reply appears nested under the comment you answered. Replies can themselves be replied to, so conversations can run several levels deep.
Deleting your own comment
You can remove a comment you posted:
- Open the … menu on your comment.
- Choose Delete and confirm.
The comment is replaced with a [deleted] marker, and any replies left underneath it stay visible. You can delete only your own comments.
Reporting a comment
If a comment breaks the rules, you can report it to the creator’s moderation team. Open the … menu on the comment, choose Report, and pick a reason. You can report a given comment once; after you do, it shows as Reported for you. For the full list of reasons and what happens next, see reporting-public.
